In early January 2011 my boyfriend and I visited Edinburgh for the first time. I love all things ghostly, and was very excited about doing the ghost tours and visiting the famous Blair St Underground vaults. We booked with the very professional Mercat tours and decided on the ghost hunterís tour. Upon entering the vaults we were very excited, as we entered the shoemakersí room and listened to our guide I felt something touch the top of my boot, not once but three times as if I was getting a shoe shine.
This all happened before our guide even mentioned anything about a shoemaker! We then moved into the next room and immediately I felt the temperature drop and I could see my breath. I got a really strange feeling as if someone was there in the doorway and watching me. Being the last one at the back of the tour group, I took a picture and got more than I expected!!! I captured a cloudy almost face like picture with its mouth open (I can see a face, my boyfriend however doesn't).
I took another photo no more than 15 seconds later and nothing was there. We moved into the next room and our guide was telling the story about the watcher but I could not even hear what he was saying because I was so freaked out about the picture I had just taken and I had a terrible feeling of a presence behind me. The feeling was so strong that I wanted to get out, but kept it quiet because I didnít want to cause a scene!! I tried to take another picture of the doorway that led back into that room and my flash failed three times (This apparently happens all the time the guide informed me). Finally I got my camera working and captured several orbs in the doorway.
I had never experienced such an overwhelming of not being wanted in a place before, and all my senses were telling me to turn and run, but it was too dark and I would have got lost!
I passed up the opportunity to go on the paranormal tour the following night because I had such a dreaded feeling about the place!
